A Rei Ayanami shoot

I also had great fun shooting again with David Kennedy who done the fanfastic anime fashion shoot of me. He took photos of me in my schoolgirl Rei Ayanami cosplay. We done the shoot along the docks in Dublin and it was cool getting photos in a train station like the series and in run done areas. David was a fun photography to work with and really showed eustasim while shooting, he came up with awesome, out of the box ideas for photos. He also got some pictures of me in the the bandages which I can't wait to show off. :) The weather was really cold though and it was very windy but it was worth it.

It was funny before meeting David, I was in my Rei cosplay and wearing a hoody. I was like this when going to meet David. I don't particully like walking in public while in cosplay not just that you get odd stares but you can get hassle of teenagers but as long as I am with a photographer I don't mind it and there wasn't many people around.

My Rei make up, I am kinda getting the hang of doing her eyes.

It took me a few years to get the wings at the end of the eyes like in the animes and I am still improving.

I done some creative editing with these photos. Photoshopping was something I haven't done in awhile.

Sorry you need more lovex

Sorry blogger I haven't been around much. Been so busy but I got some exciting updates to share. :)

Well things are working well with the planning for Cosplay Ireland's first event Banter in the Attic. It is on the 2nd of September, Twisted Pepper Dublin. It is a fundraiser for the website and for future events and there will be sexy cosplay burlesque thanks to the Chronic Candies, Bumblegum Harley and NoamiBomb. It should be fun night! Full info on Facebook.

Also on Saturday, I had a very interesting meeting with Stephen Doyle, a photographer I met awhile ago on modelmayhem. We met for the first time face to face yesterday and it was very interesting. Stephen is about to go into his final year in photography and hopes to go into photography professionally. He is very artistic and wants to bring alot more to a photo then a girl in pretty dress or costume. Stephen wants to do a long term cosplay project about cosplay and identity and how cosplay effects my daily life. It will be fascinating and fun to do. I am very excited about it as in the project I will express cosplaying from a personal point of view. Stephen seemed very interested in cosplay, we both had alot in common as he is very passionate about photography and I am passionate about cosplaying. We also plan on doing these photos from a Cindy Sherman style approach. This Tori Amos album cover comes to mind.

Funny this was a cosplay photo idea I wanted to do awhile ago as it fascinates me that one person can portray different personalities. I am more into playing different people and characters then making very extravagant costumes. I also always wanted to be more then a girl standing there in costume in a photo. I am all for bringing more to the photo, capturing the character's personality. I always thought an Evangelion one would be good, playing Rei, Mari and Asuka's personality in the one photo.

But trust me on the sunscreen

I was browsing my sister's blog and her post about that song it teaches me and life a valuable lesson. Everything in it is so true to life. Quotes from the song that really stand out to me: Stolen from sisxx.

Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly.

Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't.

Almost Famous

When I was catching up on updates today, I was really delighted to find a cosplay group called The Best of Cosplay asked me to join their group on DeviantArt. I know nothing major and don't mean to brag but it wasn't only that but I was selected along with other very good and amazing cosplayers I look up to, so it looks like I am getting somewhere. :p

I just want to say thanks to all at Nomcon who commented on my cosplays, it does mean alot and I hope to inspire. J aka Mechanic Geisha said I should do a cosplay modelling panel at Eirtakon telling people that I model and give advice on where to start. I say it could be a good panel but I never liked publishing myself and I use to rather keep my modelling low key so I wouldn't come across as vain, but they are other cosplayers here who do burlesque and have fan pages and giving I am promoting Cosplay Ireland, I really can't keep it low key if I like it or not. :P Also I am networking. :) It would be awesome to do the panel with Yaya.

It is also great that I have been chatting to another cosplayer Naomi who cosplays alot as Harlequin and Deadpool who also does cosplay burlesque and wants to help out with Cosplay Ireland maturing the cosplay image. I hope to collaborate with her and The Chronic Candies and do cosplay burlesque shoots, promoting the site.

Also James Brophy a professional photography who I done a Rei Ayanami shoot with awhile ago really wants to collaborate with me on a big cosplay project which I won't go into detail. :) We want to take cosplay photography to a new level so hopefully it works out.

Oh yes I joined Tumblr- http://cairdiuil.tumblr.com/ just for my modelling photos and again for networking. I will try and update it as much as I can.

Just recovering from staffing at Nomcon and it was fun but very hard work. The con was under staffed and there were way more people then they expected. Also Nomcon tends to run from 10am to very late at night so it is hard working. It was a very athmospheric con and the cosplays were amazing! I worked in the Bring N Buy all weekend which was good as I got diferent experience and Tree the Artist coordinator and who looked after us was lovely to work with. I didn't get to see much of the con but from hearing other attendees they seem to enjoy themselves.

My highlight over the weekend was performing with Colin who cosplayed as Archer from Fate Stay Night, we both were on the stage posing as Archer and Rin and we both got into character which was great. There were many other highlights, like Totally Dublin a free pop culture magazine interviewed me about cosplay in general and I got Cosplay Ireland out there. I look forward to the article. ^^

I am wrecked right now and will uplioad photos when I recharge the camera. Brendan's camera was great to use at the con so thanks Brendan! :)

Oh sleepzzzz

Can't sleep, Clowns will eat me.

I have done lots of fun shoots. On Sunday I had such a fun time shooting with David Kennedy from Folio32. That was the anime girl fashion shoot. David was a laugh to work with, I would admit I was kinda nervous at the start as I tend to be nervous when working with first time photographers but David put me at ease with his humour. I have the photos now and I am dying to upload them. The photos look well with the lighting and David kept the anime theme to them.

Here are some of my favourites. David's blog - http://davidkennedyphotography.blogspot.com/

More can be seen in my DeviantArt. I will upload more another time.

Also on Monday I had the pleasure to shoot with Anna aka Sweet Junkie Girl and Lauren aka Pixiestyxx who are in a cosplay burlesque group called the The Chronic Candies. Stephen took the photos. It was funny shooting around Dublin in our big dreads. Anna makes dreadfalls and is hoping to run a business in dread making. I have known her a few years at the annime con I am part of Eirtakon, she is very creative and friendly. Lauren is nice, she is very into burlesque. I look forward to seeing them two perform at Nomcon.

Then on Wednesday had a great time shooting with Mechanic Geisha an excellent alternative model who I also known from Eirtakon. Brendan aka mr doagh took the photos, it was fun working with him and we had such a laugh with our arm casts. I wore my pink sweet lolita dress which I haven't wore in awhile and Jay wore punk J- rock so it was a good contrast me in pink and elegant and Jay in black and punk. Brednan is fantastic to work with because he is more then a photographer, he is a friend. :)Also Jay is awesome love to shoot with her more. Love this one. I will upload the rest after Nomcon and I belive Jay is photoshopping some of them, she will do a great job.

Now I have a really busy weekend ahead of me, getting my cosplays togther for Nomcon, another big anime convention on in Dublin. I will be sweet Rei Ayanami from Angelic Days, Rin Tohsaka from Fate Stay Night and for the prom on Saturday night I will be Audrey Hepburn meets Rei Ayanami with an eye patch. Some preview pics.

Please excuse the bad make up, I took these photos while packing for Nomcon and wasn't bothered fixing myself up. Thanks to Brendan I took these photos from a compact camera and now I can bring my compact camera to Nomcon instead of bringing my big camera in fear of it getting stolen.

The Ayanami twist..

So it is gone 1am I am just about packed, just need to get bits and bobs in the morning. I am really looking forward to Nomcon and seeing everyone. I will report back afterwards. Untill good night and have a nice weekend. :)
